  1. swapnil says:

ok guess work … pic 1 is Cable guy(know), Pic 2 is rolling stones(guess) and Pic 3 is Jefferson airplane ( know). The link is somebody to love, the song that is a JA song and Jim carrey sings it in the movie. Guess is that JA sang this for Rolling stones and in the restaurant in pic 4 …. from the bikes alll around looks like hells angels were there

  2. The IDs first:

Pic 1 – The Cable Guy (Jim Carey and Mathew ‘Inspector Gadget’ Broderick)

Pic 3 – The Rolling Stones, circa 70s

Pic 5 – The 70s, woodstock’s children band – Jefferson Airplane (fantastic lead vocals, btw)

Pic 7 – Hells Angels, the notorious Harley Davidson club

Right. The connect was quite obtuse. In Cable Guy, Jim Carey does a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love” in characteristic panache. Just before he starts the song, he says this:

“You might recognize this song as performed by Jefferson Airplane, in a little rockumentary called “Gimme Shelter,” about the Rolling Stones and their nightmare at Altamont. That night the Oakland chapter of the Hell’s Angels had their way. Tonight, it’s my turn.”

That’s pretty much the connect – the Altamont Free Concert Tragedy.

Details: Rolling Stones went on a tour in ’69, which was to culminate at the Altamont Roadway in the Free Concert (a Woodstock-type thingie). To provide security, they hired Hells Angels’ Oakland chapter. Airplane were also to perform at the same concert, before Mick Jagger’s circus. It turned to be one bad move – major fights erupted, Airplane’s lead was knocked down and a gun-toting spectator killed. “Gimme Shelter” (a Rolling Stones’ song) was the title of a major documentary of the 70s that covered the entire concert and it’s aftermath. As Carey says, that night Hells Angels had their way.

Yeah, not the best Connect Q, I realize now! :(

Swapnil got all the IDs pretty much but not the connect (though well-worked out)!

Ram – Points for lateral thinking and excellent presence of mind!
